Tuesday Tutorial: Small Felt Flower Clip

memeI’ve had a couple of customers ask what they can do with our felt circles besides the obvious (using them for backs to attach flowers to things). So, I thought I’d show you a couple of little projects you can use these beauties for. I’ll post one today, and a few more over the next three weeks, so stay tuned!

Let’s get started on this sweet little felt flower clip.

Materials Needed:

IMG_4277 11 Felt Circles (6 of the bottom color, 5 of the top color)

1 Fabric Covered Center Embellishment (you could also use one of our rhinestone, pearl, or crystal embellishments for a different look)

Lined Double Prong Alligator Clip

Glue Gun

Step One:

Cut down all 5 of the hot pink felt circles so they are just slightly smaller than the green ones that will go under them.

IMG_4278Step Two:

Hot glue the hot pink felt piece inside of the green piece so that one edge nearly touches the edge of the green piece (it can actually touch it, mine just didn’t lol). IMG_4279Step Three:

Squeeze a small amount of hot glue onto the center of the hot pink felt circle close to the edge as shown.

IMG_4281Step Four:

Pinch the bottom edge of your felt circles together as shown above. This will make one flower petal.

IMG_4282Step Five:

Make 4 more pieces just like the one you made above for a total of 5 flower petals.

IMG_4284Step Six:

Place a small dab of hot glue onto the extra green piece of felt circle (remember you had 6 of this color?). Then quickly place one of your flower petals on top of the glue and hold in place for a few seconds to allow it to dry in place.

IMG_4285Step Seven:

Continue adding petals to the green piece of felt until they are all placed as shown:

This is what the back should look like at this stage:

Hot glue the fabric covered center to the middle of your flower.

IMG_4290Step Nine:

Hot glue your flower assembly to your lined alligator clip.

And done! This sweet little clip measures just 1-7/8″ L X 1-5/8″ T. It’s just a darling little hair piece.

IMG_4292Isn’t this so super cute?! I just love it. I can’t wait to send it off to one of you lucky winners lol. Just watch for our Facebook post later this week and make a comment!
