Tuesday Tutorial: Mini Felt Circle Flower Headband

Here is our second of four posts on what the heck to do with those felt circles. We know we can use them to attach to the backs of flowers and things, but it’s nice to have more than one use for something, don’t you agree?

Today we’re going to learn how to make these super adorable little mini felt circle flowers. You can use these on headbands or clips, as an embellishment for a card or scrapbook page, on wood craft decor, on a handmade wreath, etc. The craft possibilities are almost endless. But, today, I am going to attach them to a skinny cotton headband.

Let’s get started!

Materials Needed:

IMG_430221 Felt Circles–7 each of 3 different colors (the photo shows 6, but I promise you’ll need 7)

Skinny Cotton Headband

Glue Gun

Step One:

Take one of your felt circles and fold it in half, then fold it in half again. (Please ignore the horrifying condition of my nails 🙂 I need a manicure! Lol)

Step Two:

Hot glue the folded felt circle you just did to one of the flat felt circles you have in the same color.

Step Three:

Make three more folded felt circles in the same color and hot glue them next to each other on that same flat felt circle you did on step two. DO NOT GLUE THE FOLDS DOWN. Just glue the bottom piece of your fold to the flat felt circle. It will look something like this when the four pieces are glued on there. See how they are lifting a little on top? That is supposed to happen!

Step Four:

Take your fifth felt circle, fold it in halves like in step one, and glue the corner down into the center of your flower. Wait a few seconds for it to dry, the pinch your ‘flower petals’ a bit to fluff them and make them look more like a flower bud.

Step Five:

Repeat the above steps to make two more flowers in the other colors you have left.

Step Six:

Using your hot glue gun, attach the three mini felt flowers you have made to the outside edge of your skinny cotton headband (so the rough, curled edge is inside). Be careful not to burn yourself!

Step Seven:

Hot glue the last piece of each felt circle to the back of each coordinating flower.

And, we’re done! Isn’t that just a sweet and simple little headband? So cute!
