Looks like it’s just about that time again–in a few short weeks, our kids will be going back to school! Mom’s around the world rejoice! Ha ha. Just kidding 😉 We know we love summer and having our kids at home, but isn’t it just nice to get back into a routine again?
Along with going back to school comes shopping for new school clothes, right? We have loads of cute stuff for little girls on our site. Super cute skirts, dresses, headbands, clips and more. Check it out at www.alwaysunderpay.com!
And, since we can’t have EVERYTHING you need, we can show you how to make some of the things you don’t have. Like matching hair accessories for any outfit. Your little diva needs a matching headband, doesn’t she? Well, then, let’s get started!
1″ Plain White Plastic Headband
5/8″ Royal Blue Grosgrain Ribbon (I used about 1 yard, but I did have a bit left over.)
Felt Back Satin Flowers in Red, Royal Blue, and Yellow
Glue Gun & Scissors (not shown)
Cut a small piece of your ribbon and hot glue it around one of the ends on your headband as shown.
Take one end of the length of ribbon you have left and seal it by running the flame of the lighter over the end. This will prevent your ribbon from unraveling and fraying off of the headband later.
*Sorry, no picture on this step*
Attach the sealed end of your ribbon to the headband with hot glue. You’ll want to attach it on an angle so that when you are wrapping it, it won’t get bunched up.
Begin wrapping your ribbon around the headband as tightly as you can. I used a small dab of hot glue every few inches to secure the ribbon to the headband. This will help if you accidentally let go and it unravels a bit. It will stop at your last glue spot.
Continue wrapping your ribbon down and over the small piece. Clip the ribbon when you are satisfied that you have enough to cover what you need to. Use your lighter to seal the end again, and then hot glue it to the inside of your headband (inside so that you can’t see the ends while the child is wearing it).
All done! Isn’t this headband just too cute? And, just in time for school. You could make one to match every outfit! You can use different ribbons and different flowers to customize the look. So fun!!
