Tuesday Tutorial: Shabby Flower Crib Shoes

Shabby Flower Shoes AdI think our baby crib shoes are super cute without any added details. However, I am a crafter, and I’m always getting the urge to jazz things up a bit, you know? Make something mine so to speak. So today I thought I would show you how to jazz those shoes up a bit!

Materials Needed:

Crib Shoes of your choice (I chose red/white dot for this tutorial)

2 Shabby Flowers (I’m using white for this tutuorial)

2 Center Embellishments (I picked red/white dot fabric covered centers)

2 Felt Circles (I’m using white for this tutuorial)

Glue Gun

Shabby Flower Shoes 1Step One:

Using your glue gun, squeeze a small dab of hot glue onto one of your felt circles, then quickly and carefully stick it to the center back of one of your shabby flowers. (Be careful not to burn your fingers.)

Shabby Flower Shoes 2Step Two:

Now squeeze a small dab of hot glue onto your center embellishment and then stick it into the center front of your shabby flower. Don’t try putting the glue onto the flower. It will cause issues with the flowers sticking to itself and make a mess.

Shabby Flower Shoes 3Step Three:

Next, place a bit of hot glue on the back of the felt circle that you glued onto the back of your flower. Then, stick the flower assembly to the shoe like so.

Isn’t that so super cute? And easy? Don’t you just want to make more? I did! So, I made a few more. I did these all in 0-3 mos size, but we do carry the crib shoes in sizes from 0-12 months. Aren’t they cute?

Tuesday Tutorial: Shabby Flower Bookmark

Shabby Flower Bookmark AdI don’t know about you, but around here we usually have a summer reading list for our kids to complete during summer break. Even if you don’t, reading is a great thing for kids to do during the summer. Especially when they’re complaining that they are bored or it’s too hot to go outside. Reading keeps kid’s minds active and helps them retain all that information they worked hard to learn over the school year.

What better way to encourage a young reader than with a sweet little bookmark like this? It’s fun to use, and super easy to make! We’re going to show you how to do just that today.

Materials Needed:

2 Shabby Flowers

2 Fabric Covered Centers or Other Center Embellishments

12″-15″ Length of 3/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon

Glue Gun

1Step One:

Using your glue gun, hot glue one embellishment to the center of each of your shabby flowers as shown below.

2Step Two:

Hot glue one end of the 3/8″ ribbon to the backside of one of your flower embellishments like so.

3Step Three:

Now put a dob of hot glue in the center back of the same flower you’ve been working with like this:

Then, lay your other flower on top of that dob of glue sandwiching the ribbon between the two flowers.

016Step Four:

The pic didn’t turn out well on this part, but it’s easy. Just trim the ribbon to whatever length you desire, then use a lighter or other heat source to seal the end of the ribbon from fraying.

Voila! Wasn’t that simple? And it’s a cute little token to encourage your young reader this summer!
