I don’t know about you, but around here we usually have a summer reading list for our kids to complete during summer break. Even if you don’t, reading is a great thing for kids to do during the summer. Especially when they’re complaining that they are bored or it’s too hot to go outside. Reading keeps kid’s minds active and helps them retain all that information they worked hard to learn over the school year.
What better way to encourage a young reader than with a sweet little bookmark like this? It’s fun to use, and super easy to make! We’re going to show you how to do just that today.
Using your glue gun, hot glue one embellishment to the center of each of your shabby flowers as shown below.
Hot glue one end of the 3/8″ ribbon to the backside of one of your flower embellishments like so.
Now put a dob of hot glue in the center back of the same flower you’ve been working with like this:
Then, lay your other flower on top of that dob of glue sandwiching the ribbon between the two flowers.
The pic didn’t turn out well on this part, but it’s easy. Just trim the ribbon to whatever length you desire, then use a lighter or other heat source to seal the end of the ribbon from fraying.
Voila! Wasn’t that simple? And it’s a cute little token to encourage your young reader this summer!
