Tuesday Tutorial: Patriotic Pony Holder

Tutorial: Patriotic

Man, I wish I had a little girl. I guess I have to live vicariously through our customers lol. I think this pony holder would be so cute in a little’s girl’s hair! It reminds me of fireworks. I’m going to teach you to make this in very few steps and little time today.

Materials Need:

Patriotic Pony Holder Supplies

About 4-5 feet each of 3-4 different ribbons. I used:

7/8″ Red Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon

5/8″ White Grosgrain Ribbon

3/8″ Royal Blue Grosgrain Ribbon

Elastic Pony Holder

Scissors

Lighter

Step One:

Cut your ribbon in pieces about 9″ in length. I ended up with 5 of each color, but you may end up needing more depending on the size of ribbon you are using.

Start tying the ribbons to your ponytail holder as shown below. I did mine in a red, white, blue pattern, but you can be totally random. Whatever order you want to do it in, and if you want more of one color than the others, just tie it your way.

Step Two:

Continue tying until your entire pony holder is hidden in ribbon. Try not to push them too tightly together. This will stretch out your pony holder and it won’t be very stretchy anymore.

Step Three:

You’ll want to trim up your ends and make them even and neat looking. I didn’t want mine all the same length, so I staggered them, but that it up to you.

Patriotic Pony Holder Step Four

Once you have them all trimmed up nicely, take your lighter and quickly heat the ends of each ribbon to seal them from fraying. Be careful not to burn yourself or your ribbons. It only takes a couple of seconds on each end, don’t hold it too long or it will start on fire.

Isn’t that just so cute! I love it. I think it makes a fun little addition to a holiday outfit. And, you can make them in whatever colors suit any outfit. They’re cheap, quick, and fun!
